Dynax2
The Dynax2 is more than an ordinary compressor; it is designed as a Dynamic Sound Shaper, a creative tool meant for the creative sound engineers.
But a lot of you use Dynax2 for mixing, tracking, mastering and live concerts because it can acts like a normal High grade compressor .
Conceived around very low distorsion circuits, the Dynax2allows a wide range of effects, starting with the smoothest and most transparent compression to the harshest and most spectacular sound designs. This low distortion feature permits also to make very important gain réduction : this is the starting point of sound shapping.
Both Attack and Release knobs offer a graduated change of values to reshape the sound and create a new envelope.
The Dynax Square offers now four different compression curves :
– Compressor (4:1)
- Limiter (10:1)
– Brickwall
- AntiDyna : an innovative new mode designed by Olivier Bolling which literally « over-limits » the sound in a « funky-to-trashy » way
All the signal path’s components are carefully hand-selected high-quality parts.
The front panel is a 10 millimeters thick solid aluminium piece of metal.
VU-meter lighting allows user to see both output level or gain reduction. Over modulation cleverly turns the meter’s blue hue to a strong red.
Now , DYNAX2 has onboard power supply ( 110V/230V switchable) and Vu meter light is dimed when « bypass » switch is engaged.

IMPORTANT NOTE: early DYNAX2 was only 3 ratios. COMPRESSOR ratio was added on 2009 and LIMITER ratio was upgraded.
IT IS NOT POSSIBLE to UPGRADE from 3 ratios to 4 ratios.
Very early machines fitted Jensen 990 OP AMPS.
It was upgraded to a new OP AMP in order to decrease noise floor. This change can be done at factory.
DYNAX 2 , the story :
DYNAX first prototype were release in 2002.
At this time, Olivier Bolling, ALSO designer, was technical director for famous PLUS XXX studios in Paris ( France) .
As they were installed with all the latest and the classical record and mixing machines, those innovative studios were a great laboratory for DYNAX developpment
Dynax prototypes were used for dozens of music albums.
Starting idea was to construct the missing link compressor, the one you use needs on vocals with no artefacts, no distorsion, no colour printing, just a dynamic tool!
But after a mistake, Antidyna was developped and the machine changes to a transparent limiter with creative functions !And become an impressive tool for percussive sounds and electric guitars.
First machine were shown in 2006 , during Paris and San Francisco AES shows and a small number of machines were producted.
A lot of customer were claiming for a stereo version for drums and loops and the machine becames stereo in 2007.
Final testing was done at Masterdisk Europe facility and chief engineer Eric Chevet replaced his own stereo compressor by the Dynax. We just discovered DYNAX2 was a boss for mastering, especially keeping bottom when compressing!
During year 2009, Madje Malki was looking for the perfect final compressor on tour and tried quite everything you can find..and choose DYNAX2.
He uses it on mains, on tour , for a lot of concert, including 2010/2011 Prince tour!
A proove of quality and reliability of DYNAX2.
COMPRESSOR ratio was added in MK3 version end of 2009, at the same time , PSU was included inside the chassis ( no more external PSU).
DYNAXM is the « on request » DYNAX2 version for Mastering.
No more Antidyna ( not really usefull for mastering!) but one SOFT COMPRESSOR ratio.
And dedicated steped controls.
