« I love the Dynax! In my opinion, it’s one of the most original designs to come out in a long while. It’s a little hard to describe unless you’ve used one. It’s like how the company describes it : a sound shaper… (…) You can go very subtle or very aggressive with the four compression settings. The last setting which he calls « antidyna » is very fun to use indeed. It gives you some extreme limiting where you can achieve reverse cymbal effects very easily, for example. I really couldn’t compare it with any one compressor. This is my latest favorite toy and I tell everyone about. He’s got some other things cooking which he just hinted at but didn’t go into details. « Of course, Dynax2, the fastest limiter I have ever experienced, can create some extreme effects, but don’t overlook its superior sound when used as a normal compressor. The 2002-established company is lead by Olivier Bolling, a multi-skills audio professional who is working in the pro audio world for 1986.

The brand introduces its first Sound Tools at the 2006 AES show in Paris : DYNAX and EZAX, 2 different versions of the same compressor, with the unavoidable «Anti-Dyna» mode that allows crazy sound shaping and dynamic controls.

DYNAX then becomes DYNAX ² a stereo version of the original-featured compressor and is presented at the AES shows of Vienna and NYC, in 2007.

AL.SO then releases a new range of fully-compatible 500-format modules, that shows some innovations : Double preamp/DI unit in a single 500 module (MP²), summing mixer module (M²B,M2M and M²6) and monitoring section unit (M2U)…

All these units combined allowing more than 50 channels max of summing and monitoring controls…in one API Lunch Box!!

October 2009, the company introduces HELLAX, a high-quality multi-purpose mono compressor/limiter for tracking and mixing that allows light compression to total dynamic control of various types of instruments and voices.

Serie 5 ( for 500 format ) was introduced at 2011 the New York AES, designed for musician/producers.

France based compnay ,AL.SO philosophy is  » provide clever and well adapted solutions for today audio, not  following the current fashion ».Our experience led us to start designing some studio gear with a different point of view, but a strong one.

Some manufacturers tend to focus their researches on a certain technology. For us, technology is just a way to reach a specific goal. Not a commercial issue.

For example, we’ve been often asked why AL.SO’s first release, the Dynax (contraction for «Dynamic Sound Shaper») is not a tube compressor. The answer is simple : a technology based on solid state was the best choice for what we wanted to achieve with the unit and its technical specifications (very low distortion, low noise, …).

And be sure that first developpement was tube technology.

A lot of famous sound engineers already acclaimed the Dynax and its wide possibilities of compression.

So, if a certain piece of gear sounds best with a technology based on transistors, why should we use tubes?

We don’t think a certain technology is better than another one. It all depends on what we want to do with our equipment.

The development and the ideas are open.

However, one thing we care about while designing our circuitry is Quality  .

We use selected parts and mount them the right way, so that you can use AL.SO products for years… with minimum maintenance!

In the end, the main thing for us is Music.

About Olivier Bolling

Born in 1967, Olivier Bolling is a real music addict ( clasical and Jazz trumpet player)!

Musician  since he was a child, mastering engineer in his early 20’s, maintenance technician then technical director for TV and recording studios, Olivier Bolling knows perfectly the real needs of both recording and mixing engineers.

During his 10 years as technical director at PLUS XXX -the most famous french world-class studio- Olivier Bolling has built and designed two new control rooms and recording studios. At this time, he was also contacted by Robin Porter and all the AMS-Neve design team to be part of the «Barchetta» 88R project.

That’s how the first Neve 88R in the world has been installed at PLUS XXX.

Now working with a full team of audio professionals, Olivier Bolling designs, builds and installs studios for producers, artists and commercial purposes.

As the main designer for ALternate SOundings, Olivier Bolling can design equipment that definitely match customers’ needs.

Today as the CEO, Olivier Bolling is joined by entire team to develop the commercial and general release of AL.SO product range.
